I have a Sony camcorder that uses Mini DV for storage and I want to save my home videos to my computer. I have the USB cable for it, but I need a software to capture my videos to a standard MPG or MP4 format.

We found em all on the spot, and we couldn’t have scripted it better if we had a week to plan it. Oh wait, we did have a week and we had no script. The concept and initiative were all provided by Ian and Mike; storyboard by Ian, Mike, and Dan; editing mostly by Dan. Camera 1 and director is Ian, the interviewer is Mike, Camera 2 and editor is Dan, and the music composer is Mathew. This was produced using Access tv’s Canon DV camcorder and mics, Dan’s imac, and Dan’s Aiptek Action HD camcorder. Dan used Final Cut Studio (Final Cut Pro and livetype) for everything. It involved 5 hours in the field of finding and shooting locations and interviews, about $50 in volunteer expenses, and about a week’s worth of editing just to produce a 5 minute short film. It often took 4 hours to produce 20 seconds of final footage, because of the amount of cleanup of all this wild footage, and because of a high tech creative direction and the learning curve. The camera is a mini-DV (digital video Sony Premium), a Panasonic, a fully charged Li-ion battery pack.Ho with a USB cable to your computer are connected, but all that happened was that the first time in bubble popped (right bottom of the screen) and said something was connected to the USB port and was ready to be used. Click on the warning has done nothing. Then I search for new hardware to install and the computer could not detect any new hardware. Now I have no idea what to do. Some people have told me that I probably need some software to download the video off. Other people have told me that most cameras can only open with Windows. Help? Model Number: PV-GS35
I tried using the software supplied with the camera, but not download on my computer, so if someone can tell me another way to videos on your computer, it would be really helpful.
