This camera is a major update to the image quality and features. I replaced a Sony HDR-CX100 from this camcorder and the update is clear. I hate to give this camera a 5-star review, but at the end of the day the video quality deserves 5 stars. I bought this to use a camera handcam is why she gets 5 stars. I go short and to the point here. I have a camera for the type of activities, so I picture quality is very important to me. I can not complain camera on the same machine, but be aware that finding a program to edit, convert and compress your AVCHD files (format camera for output) can be a challenge. Because this is a review of the camera and not the software, I will not let that factor in my five stars. But you should consider this option if the video editing is important to you as in my case. I’ve tried Windows Movie Maker and Pinnacle Studio 7 HD and both have their flaws. W7MM is a terribly hostile program to try to change with the help of any kind creativity, and Pinnacle has a small problem with the collapse of the frame rate when converting to WMV format.

EDIT – If you want to edit AVCHD files as much as we could with the old Windows Movie Maker for XP, Pinnacle Studio HD is what you need. By far the best program I could find, but you need a pretty powerful system to manage. If you do, the change is no longer a problem.

I played with the camera in a local shop, along with the Canon Vixia lines. I decided to go with this for the following reasons:

After trying to decide between the mid-price models from Sony and Canon Vixia HD, I have resolved this first because it is a wide angle lens (27 mm to 29 mm for photos and video) lens. I tried low-quality screw-on lens attachment to the camcorder in the past and have always distort the image. This is a fantastic cause and offers all the advantages of shooting off without accessories (economic or otherwise). What’s more, when I want to use the wide angle attachment, I get a very wide fisheye!

Until now I was very pleased with the quality, functions and performance of the camera, but I’ve only used it for about 24 hours I know that soon I will work.

But if you’re torn between the cameras, then consider the lens in this case (like me) wide angle is important for your shot.
