Canon DC210 DVD Camcorder with 35x Optical Zoom

  1. July 18, 2007: Read my answer in response to a question about Jason G VRO.

If you want a DVD camcorder to shoot videos, make very small changes compared with the same camera, then fall into your DVD player – the DC210 okay. It is easy to use, despite the poorly written manual. With regard to its functions – not really stand out in the crowd of similar (cheaper) models.

The audio recording is not great. From a distance of about 5-6 meters, you have difficulty hearing someone who is not projecting their voice.

Anyway, after a weekend of frustration, this camcorder is back. />

users can not edit their videos without conversion software – which according to Canon representatives will not be passed on Canon website. And, this format is so new, I had difficulty finding conversion software and are unable to free the VRO video files to convert find (willing to pay between $ 15 – $ 25 for conversion shareware – in addition to DC210 was $ 340 – $ 400 price tag).

Canon does not provide this software for any camcorder – their reason: the camera is only suitable for point-shoot-play. Note: Canon has not even handle the new format VRO in the manual in the box or the PDF on their site (the term itself is not in their documentation).

Finally, if you have decent sound through the use of an external mic, forget it – Canon also did not put an external microphone jack on the DC210 (Canon ZR800 has one external connection).

; During my recent conversation with a representative from Canon, my message was basically “shame on you.” Canon has clearly opted for the rapidly growing consumer interest in video editing ignore the credit went to Microsoft, Pinnacle, and others who have given us some good, easy tools for creative editing to do at home and / or video frame.

Canon totally missed the boat on this. They can be packed with a decent camera, as a minimum, some conversion software and a better user-guide, thus encouraging their customers to go and much shooting and many parts of videos, presentations and so on, which I intend to – do with a Sony, JVC, camcorder or other.

I give two stars only because the Canon DC210 does do what he wanted.

Canon gets an “F” not a few cents more to pay for each camcorder sold to ensure customers and then a conversion software to easily edit their creations with cheap, easy to use movie / video editing software.

  2. The worst possible. I have half of our summer vacation trying records that would accept my Canon pretentious way. Only Sony and only sometimes. Ugh. I used to trust Canon. Now, I read and write reviews more often.

  3. I am very pleased with this camera. The picture quality is very good for a standard definition camera and operating it is as simple as it can get. On camera editing capabilities are not developed, so when these cameras can be useful to look at the top line-up.

The complaint may be made only with the completion of the disks. You should read the manual if the charger is connected and you have the first game modes will also give you the opportunity to finalize a disc. Fortunately, you can then go back and change disks develop later.

I had absolutely zero problems playing discs finalized. Insert the disc into a DVD player and press play.

  4. Well, there goes the first shots of the birthday of my daughter. E ‘on a mini-disc, but the only thing that will play behind the same camera. Not work on any computer, PlayStation 2, or even a normal DVD player Phillips. It includes the features that are not even selectable in the menus. You can initialize the disk, but not completed. . . but is thought to be an option in the menu to be. I take tonight. What a piece of junk.

  5. I am a beginner when it comes to camcording and pictures. I wanted an easy to use 2-in-1 camera / camcorder. Christmas Eve I’m reading the manual. I wanted documentation listing procedure for the rapid installation and use. There is no such thing. What is given is confusing at best. After about two hours, I managed to get things rolling in practice on my own. I just did a good job of finding things, such as initializing disks, the transition between the four basic functions (making and watching videos and photos), making videos and taking photos. I was disappointed with the quality that I saw the camera, but thought it would look on my computer or DVD. So I took lots of pictures and videos on Christmas Day. I spent about an hour and half today (the day after Christmas) to learn how to convert images to my computer / DVD use and finalize the disc. I was excited to see my photos on your computer, but all the photos and videos are very grainy and not good quality at all. And I could not even get the game disc into two DVD players I have. I spent more time than I wanted this machine to learn and I am very disappointed with the result. I could read a little ‘more hostile in the guide on the quality objectives photographs, but I’m not, I’ll go now!
